James T. Schaefer, Executive Producer/Host

James Schaefer is the Executive Producer of Riprap: The Academic
Book Television Program, the first and only television series
in the United States to focus on the exciting world of academic
books. Jim has 40 years of media experience, including positions
as the co-founder and coordinator of Orchard Radio at Washtenaw
Community College, investigative reporter for the Battle
Creek Inquirer News
, state editor of the Muskegon Chronicle, news reporter
for the Williamston Enterprise, and sports reporter for the Grand
Rapids Press
. The author of a new book, Developing Effective
Media Strategies
, he also teaches writing at Washtenaw Community


Karen M. Schaefer, Executive Director

Karen Schaefer is Executive Director of Riprap: The Academic
Book Television Program. Karen has 30 years of experience in
the visual arts as a fine arts photographer, journalistic photographer,
videographer, and video director. Her work has been featured
in the Grand Rapids Press, Muskegon Chronicle, WKAR-TV, WFUM-TV;
and she has had her fine arts photography exhibited at the Ann
Arbor art fair, the Ann Arbor Arts Association, Concordia College,
the Freedom Festival in Detroit and Windsor, and Arles, France.


Tom Bray, Executive Technical Producer
Tom Bray, the Executive Technical Producer, has had over two
decades of extensive experience in audiovisual design and support,
both in theater and broadcast media (television and radio).


Marie Schaefer, Administrative Assistant

Marie Schaefer, now an administrative assistant for Riprap,
has helped out in a number of ways, ranging from contacting publishers
to designing Riprap's booth for the first-ever Ann Arbor Book
Festival. She's studying Applied Anthropology at Eastern Michigan
